What's the hardest part of your job?

Probably that there's never a guarantee that I'll actually be paid for it, which can get scary sometimes. People can't always buy my music and merch and handmade plushies, which I understand. Venues don't always have the budget to pay us to play. But I keep working regardless, hoping that the money I would like to earn for what I do might someday catch up with the many hours I've worked.

It also costs me a good amount of money to do this, since I pay for t-shirts and copies of CDs and rental cars to shows out of pocket. For a few months out of the year, I'm actually losing money because of that.

The good news is, I enjoy all aspects of the work I do, so if nobody buys any of my merch or music for a month or two, at least I'm able to focus on the fact that I'm having fun sewing or working on graphic design or setting up Facebook events or writing music or making YouTube videos. And people enjoy what I do, even if they decide not to buy anything from me. I'm lucky.
